This time’s throwback comes out of pure necessity. We simply need you all to be familiar with singer RIMON. We’re not entirely sure enough people know about this incredibly talented Dutch artist. And yes — we’re fully aware The Netherlands aren’t exactly known for exporting musical superstars. But when it comes to the “Got My Back” hitmaker, we truly believe she has everything it takes to become an international breakthrough artist. After supporting Gideon on his worldwide tour, it’s time for everyone to wake up and welcome RIMON into their playlists.
The singer is known for her seamless blend of alternative R&B, low-tempo electronic production, and subtle African influences. Born in Eritrea, East Africa, and raised in the Netherlands, RIMON makes sure her roots shine through her music every now and then. We love her for never shying away from evolution — whether it’s an EP, a standalone track, or her debut album Children Of The Night. Since her very first release in 2018, she’s been consistently delivering surprise after surprise.
For this throwback, we could only highlight one of her many excellent songs — and trust us, that wasn’t easy. The track we believe works as the perfect introduction to RIMON is ‘Build Me A House’. The song was first introduced through a COLORS SHOW live performance and instantly received love from all corners of the internet. Shortly after, RIMON released the official single version, featuring Tiggs Da Author.
On the song, the singer reflects on always being on the move — never quite ready to settle down in one place. “If you build me a house, I might run away,” she sings, almost stressed, over the understated R&B beat. We can’t help but feel slightly unsettled hearing her pour her heart out, spilling hard truths over a production that feels undeniably timeless. The second verse sees RIMON almost rapping, trying to fit in as many honest thoughts as possible “When you’re used to self-destruction, who’s the one to blame? I’ve known chaos all my life, so chaos is what I chase.” It’s raw, vulnerable, and impossible to ignore.
